It all began 10 years ago with a chance encounter in a prenatal yoga class. Bonding over our swollen ankles, we discovered a mutual love of sewing and fabric. We were opposites – Meg a dreamy, intuitive teacher and Ali a pragmatic, disciplined lawyer. But it worked and was the beginning of a life-changing friendship.
After seven years, five babies and endless trips to fabric shops, we had amassed a stockpile of fabulous fabric, full of color, texture and pattern. With yards and yards of fabric bursting from our closets and dozens of unfinished projects, we had to stop the madness. We promised each other we would use what we had before we would buy one more yard of fabric!
Meg started appliquéing fabric animal shapes to all our kids' tees. One day Ali became inspired to piece together funky fabrics and top it off with a peace sign – a gift to Meg's soul. And with that, the first meG + aLi peace tee was born. We started giving them as gifts and soon people were demanding to know how they could get their own.
So we took the plunge and today we proudly present meG + aLi designs -- designs that celebrate harmony, color and, most importantly, friendship. Each unique design is handcrafted in Maine and is our way of offering the world a little message of peace.
